Sammamish Collection Event Details May 1, 2004

InterConnection collected 47 computers, 72 monitors and 8 printers during its computer collection event at Margaret Mead Elementary School in Sammamish. The event was organized by Anish Badshah for his high school senior project. Anish did an outstanding job at planning, marketing and carrying out the event.

Here’s a way to support development efforts in Iraq , Belize and Nigeria .  Bring your old computer, laptop and monitor to Margaret Mead Elementary School in Sammamish on May 1.  InterConnection and World Computer Exchange Seattle will send these computer items to non profits and schools around the world.

Working Pentium II computers and above (233 MHZ and above) and 17” monitors will be accepted.  A handling fee of $10 will charged for Pentium I and below computers and $15 for 15” monitors.  All non working computers and monitors, printers and scanners will be charged a recycling fee.

Organizations slated to receive donated computers include:

  • Kairos International, Iraq: A Christian missionary organization providing humanitarian aid in Iraq.  

  • Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Awareness Africa, Nigeria:  A non profit in Nigeria that educates families about SIDs. www.sidsafrica.kabissa.org

  • Help for Progress and El Pilar, Belize:  Two Belizean non profits working to protect the rainforest.  

  • The University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Nigeria

  • Earth Corps, Seattle - A local environmental awareness non profit

  • English as a Second Language School, Seattle

NO CHARGE FOR:

  • Working Pentium II computers and above (233 MHZ and above) 
  • Working 17" monitors and above less than 5 years old. 
  • Peripherals including mice, keyboards, and speakers, print cartridges 

FEES CHARGED FOR

  • $10.00 for all PI and older computers AND all non working computers
  • $15.00 for all 15" monitors, non working monitors and all-in-one systems (Apples & Laptops)
  • $5.00 for printers, scanners and other peripherals under 10 pounds.

We will NOT take VCR's, TVs, Microwaves, Stereo Equipment or any other household appliances.
